It wasn’t one project or one supply. It was how ordinary materials quietly changed the air while I worked — and how my body noticed long before I questioned the connection.

My home didn’t change, but my capacity did. During periods when I was carrying more emotionally, my body responded to familiar indoor spaces in ways that felt sharper and harder to ignore.

Painting felt harmless — creative, contained, even calming. But once I started paying attention, I realized my body reacted not to the project itself, but to how indoor air changed while I worked.

Nothing new was happening in my home. The environment hadn’t changed. But during stressful periods, my symptoms felt louder, heavier, and harder to ignore — and it took me a long time to understand why stress amplified what I felt indoors.

The doubt didn’t start because nothing was happening. It started because what I was experiencing didn’t line up neatly with logic, language, or other people’s reactions — and over time, that mismatch made me turn inward instead of trusting myself.

I kept expecting fresh air to solve it. When opening windows didn’t bring the relief I assumed it would, I had to rethink what “ventilation” actually meant for my body.

We were in the same room, breathing the same air, living the same moment. Everyone else seemed fine. I didn’t — and that contrast quietly made me question myself more than the symptoms ever did.

I didn’t lack words because nothing was happening. I lacked words because what was happening didn’t fit into familiar language — and every attempt to explain it made me feel more unsure instead of clearer.
