Nothing big was being asked of me. But inside my home, even simple choices felt like they carried more weight than they should have.

I wasn’t anxious or on edge — I just never fully powered down. Rest felt shallow, incomplete, like my body stayed half-awake even when nothing was happening.

I wasn’t doing anything strenuous. But inside my home, my energy faded faster than it ever did anywhere else.

Nothing about the house changed — but my body’s experience of it did. That shift was confusing until I understood how time alters what the nervous system can tolerate.

Nothing was threatening. Nothing was happening. And yet my body behaved as if it needed to stay quietly protective the entire time I was inside.

I didn’t feel emotionally unstable — I just felt less steady than I used to. The shifts were subtle enough to doubt, but consistent enough to matter.
