I thought storage would buy me time and safety. Instead, it quietly recreated the same problems I was trying to leave behind. This is what I learned about storage spaces, delayed reactions, and why “out of sight” isn’t always out of risk.

Even after remediation, I struggled to feel at home. What I didn’t understand yet was that regaining trust in a space is a process — and it doesn’t always align with the completion of work.

I kept expecting progress to be linear — a straight path from sick to well. What I discovered was that healing is a zigzag, influenced by environment, nervous system, and the subtle signals our bodies send when safety is truly restored.
