I was told the mold had been handled. What I didn’t understand yet was how much of a difference there is between changing how something behaves and removing it from the environment entirely.

I expected the physical work to be the hardest part. What surprised me was how much strain came from simply being inside the building — even on days when the job itself was manageable.

I assumed containment meant plastic sheets and caution tape. What I learned was that real containment is quieter, more deliberate, and far more protective than it looks.

I kept waiting for a smell — something obvious I could point to. Instead, the space felt dense and tiring in a way I couldn’t name, even though nothing seemed wrong on the surface.

I was told to focus on what I could see. What I didn’t understand yet was how much of the problem exists beyond the places your eyes can reach.

I kept thinking the lights were just annoying. What I didn’t realize was how lighting and air worked together to tax my body — quietly amplifying symptoms that never showed up from just one factor alone.
