Nothing about the house changed — but my body’s experience of it did. That shift was confusing until I understood how time alters what the nervous system can tolerate.

Nothing was threatening. Nothing was happening. And yet my body behaved as if it needed to stay quietly protective the entire time I was inside.

I didn’t feel emotionally unstable — I just felt less steady than I used to. The shifts were subtle enough to doubt, but consistent enough to matter.

Nothing in the room was changing. And yet my attention never fully settled, as if my body was quietly monitoring the space around me.

It wasn’t pain or panic — just a steady sense that my body was never quite comfortable. That constant “off” feeling turned out to be one of the most important signals.

I wasn’t depressed or unmotivated — I just felt like my body was moving through resistance. The slowing wasn’t emotional. It was environmental.

I wasn’t sick. I wasn’t crashing. But inside my home, my body felt like it was perpetually in recovery mode — never quite caught up.

When everything finally slowed down, I expected relief. Instead, the discomfort got louder — and that surprised me more than the symptoms themselves.

Nothing was dragging me down emotionally. But inside my home, time itself felt heavier, thicker, harder to move through.
