I expected energy to return the way symptoms left — gradually, but clearly. Instead, it showed up in fragments. A good morning followed by a drained afternoon. It took time to understand that energy doesn’t rebound linearly after long-term stress.

After the intensity of illness faded, I expected emotion to rush back in. Instead, things felt muted. I wasn’t sad or distressed — just strangely flat. It took time to understand that numbness wasn’t a setback, but a phase of recovery I hadn’t expected.
