Calm Guidance

Nothing new seemed wrong — my life was just changing. What I didn’t expect was how those transitions made my body less able to compensate for an environment it had quietly been managing.

Nothing bad had happened. The day had gone fine. And yet after I walked back inside, my body needed time to catch up before it could settle.

I didn’t become more sensitive overnight — my threshold just dropped. Sounds, decisions, and small inputs overwhelmed me faster indoors, even when nothing felt obviously wrong.

Nothing hurt, exactly — but my body felt compressed, like it couldn’t fully expand or release. The pressure wasn’t painful, just persistent enough to notice.

Stress didn’t overwhelm me — it lingered. My reactions weren’t bigger than before, but my body stayed activated longer, especially in certain indoor spaces.

Nothing about me had changed. And yet outside my home, my body felt clearer, steadier, and more like itself in a way I couldn’t recreate indoors.

Rest was supposed to help. Instead, it made everything more noticeable. The quieter I became, the louder my body’s signals felt.

Nothing was demanding my attention. Nothing needed fixing. And yet inside my home, my body stayed lightly switched on, as if full rest never quite became available.
