I didn’t feel afraid in my house — but I also didn’t feel safe. It took me a long time to understand why those are not the same thing.

When my body reacted to my home, I struggled more with explaining it than surviving it. This is why invisible environmental stress can be so hard to name — even when it’s real.

For a long time, I thought my symptoms were scattered — emotional, physical, mental, random. What I eventually saw was a single, quiet pattern: my body changed depending on where I was. This is the story of how that realization unfolded.

I kept being told everything looked fine. Normal labs. Normal scans. Normal results. But inside my own body, something clearly wasn’t normal at all — and that disconnect became its own kind of stress.
