Nothing dramatic happened. No clear start date. Just a slow narrowing of capacity that was easy to miss until it wasn’t.

Once repairs finally began, I expected relief. Instead, I felt torn between wanting to believe things were fixed and not feeling safe enough to relax. I learned that trust often lags behind action when you’ve lived with uncertainty for too long.

I wasn’t panicking. I wasn’t sad. I just felt slightly removed — like I was present, but not fully inside my own experience, especially at home.

When mold was acknowledged, the solutions offered were often framed as temporary. I learned that pressure to accept short-term fixes can leave renters feeling stuck between compliance and self-protection.

I could describe what I felt — just not in a way that landed. The symptoms were real, but the language never seemed to fit. Every explanation felt incomplete, even to me.
