Calm Guidance

Fogging looked like the cleanest, least disruptive option. What I didn’t understand yet was how easy it is to treat the air while leaving the problem untouched.

I kept assuming the fatigue came from meetings, deadlines, and mental load. What surprised me was realizing how much of the drain came from simply being in the space — even on quieter days.

I reached for bleach because it felt decisive. What I didn’t realize was how easily a familiar solution can deepen a problem when the environment underneath hasn’t changed.

I kept telling myself weekends felt better because I was resting. It took time to realize it wasn’t just the break — it was the distance from a space my body had been working hard to tolerate.

There was a moment when I realized that every attempt to “fix” things was making my body feel less safe — not more. Pausing felt wrong, but it turned out to be protective.

Mornings felt manageable. Afternoons felt heavier, noisier, harder to think through. I kept assuming it was fatigue — until I noticed how consistently my body unraveled as the day went on.

I thought once the mold was gone, the problem would be over. What I didn’t understand yet was how easy it is to remove evidence without changing the conditions that created it.

I thought air was neutral — something everyone experienced the same way. It took time to realize that sharing air doesn’t mean sharing impact, especially when bodies are already under strain.

I kept cleaning because it felt productive — but the problem didn’t change. What I didn’t understand yet was the difference between removing what I could see and addressing what was actually happening.

I didn’t notice it all at once. I just knew my body felt heavier at work — and lighter almost everywhere else. That contrast became the first clue I didn’t know how to interpret yet.
