What confused me most wasn’t the size of the exposures — it was the size of the response. The smallest, most ordinary moments carried more impact than the obvious ones ever did.

I could push through full days, stay engaged, and keep moving — yet the moment I slowed down at home, my energy dropped. It took me a long time to understand why rest felt harder than activity.

I could leave the house and feel clearer within minutes. My energy lifted. My anxiety softened. Then I’d come home and feel heavy again — without doing anything different. That contrast was confusing long before it was informative.

The signs were there long before I trusted them. What delayed everything wasn’t denial — it was how subtle, ordinary, and easy to explain away these triggers felt at the time.

What I felt didn’t line up with what I could explain. The symptoms were real, but the logic never quite matched — and that mismatch made me doubt myself long before it gave me clarity.

Nothing about my routine had changed — but my body had. Ordinary daily activities began bringing up symptoms I couldn’t ignore, even though nothing felt obviously “wrong.”

My body reacted in ways I couldn’t immediately explain. There were sensations, shifts, and limits — but no clear thoughts to match them. That disconnect made me doubt myself more than the reactions ever did.

I didn’t have a clear concern or a conscious fear. What I had was a body that started responding before my thoughts ever formed — and a growing sense that something was being registered below awareness.

Nothing was obviously wrong. My home looked the same. My life looked stable. And yet my body felt tense, uneasy, and alert in ways I couldn’t explain — especially when I was indoors.
